Slimming the silhouette

– Liposuction –

Fat deposits are often of genetic origin and therefore difficult to reduce. Having strong thighs and hips or superfluous weight in the belly area can cause a feeling of unattractiveness and result in a reduced quality of life.

Liposuction, however, is not a method to reduce weight. Still, it can help to improve body proportions – hence the terms body contouring, body sculpturing, body shaping.

The respective surgical technique is based on your surgeon’s results of your examination as well as on your personal wishes. Typical indications or areas for liposuction are metabolic disorders or cellulites, typical areas are the thighs, hips, the upper and lower belly, the breasts, arms, knees and ankles.

Safety is an important aspect, particularly in cosmetic interventions. For this reason especially the technique for liposuction has been refined and improved. State of the art is the tumescent local anesthetic method (TLA). Prior to the liposuction large amounts of saline solution enhanced with adrenalin and a local antibiotic are infiltrated into the treatment area. This procedure loosens the fatty tissue and allows liposuction to take place under local anesthesia. The advantage is a reduced blood loss and an improved healing process.

In one session usually no more than 5 liters of fat will be removed. Depending on which area is treated, several small incisions are necessary to cover the whole area. The whole procedure takes one to three hours and often you can leave home the next day or even the same day.
