Better scars
– Scar Treatment –

Our skin is a mirror of our health. That is why the cosmetic market offers such a large scale of products for covering up defects such as scars. Scars are a natural part of the wound healing process. But sometimes they get out of control and produce excessive tissue.
Such over-productive scars can occur after surgical interventions, accidents, burns as well as after laser treatments, chemical peelings or dermabrasion. There are different types of such scars. A hypertrophic scar will grow but remain within the margins of the scar tissue, whereas the keloid will grow over these margins. The erythema is an additional extensive reddening of the skin. Excision of the hypertrophic scar often increases the problem and the scar can develop into a keloid.
Sometimes scarring can be worsened because the tissue is stressed. That is why after a surgery you need recovery time and have to protect the operated area. Depending on the kind of surgery you had, wearing compression garments and/or using silicone gel or silicone-gel sheets on the scar may assist the healing process.
